2014 Ballard Canyon Grenache

A true library wine, this is the grandma to our 92 point 2016 “kestrel” Grenache, but held back in reserve for 5 years. Classic Grenache attributes of strawberries, leather, and white pepper but with deep notes of dried tarragon and toasted walnuts.

2017 Ballard Canyon Grenache Blanc

Sourced from the up and coming Ballard Canyon AVA, this variety of Spanish origin is a glowing example of a full-bodied funky white wine. Loads of citrus and lime dominate over notes of honeysuckle and Asian pear. Lemon Curd is another familiar fragrance. Lovely acidity with a gorgeous, round mouthfeel.

2017_Bolt_To_Pinot_Noir.jpg

2017 Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir

Bold and extracted, this wine is on the stronger side of wines coming from the Sta. Rita Hills AVA. You’d never guess she’s 100% Pinot Noir. Though a dark and impenetrable red, she maintains her Pinot roots with beautiful acidity and levity. Bright red fruits and berries dominate. Strawberries, sweet black cherries with hints of coca-cola and caramel.

Sidekick_Syrah.jpg

2016 Ballard Canyon Syrah

100% Syrah, aged 18 months neutral French Oak barrels, 15.6% ABV. One of the deepest red wines we’ve met, this inky full-bodied kraken appears with a purple core and red edges. Notes of menthol, dark fruit, pepper, anise, and smoked meat. Well integrated and deceptively friendly, drink this today with a fatty steak maybe with a peppercorn sauce, or could lie down for a few years.

$40

“Rich and roasty on the nose, this bottling offers charred blackberry, peppercorns, tar, coffee and grape seed on the nose. The palate is rounded and smoky as well, with grilled black-plum and fig flavors lifted by pepper dust and well integrate purple flowers. This feels lavish but high-toned due strong acid."

2016 Ballard Canyon Grenache

100% Grenache, aged 18 months neutral French Oak barrels, 15.1% ABV. Airy and ethereal, and somewhat arid, this deep ruby Grenache exhibits an independent character. Notes of Spearmint, blistered cherries, slate and flint with dry easy tannins.

"Cola and Dr. Pepper aromas meet with dark plum and black cherry on the dynamic nose of this bottling. The intense Dr. Pepper flavors also show on the palate, where tense tannins also deliver floral flavors of lilac and rosewater. It's quite an intriguing and full sip."
